Vacation cont....

Let me go back a few days. On Saturday, my mom's youngest sister and husband, Penny and Robert, drove in from Texas. We only get to see them one time a year. We all were so glad to see them.
Tuesday and Wednesday I did things around the house and caught up on some doctors appointments.
Wednesday afternoon Penny and Robert's kids arrived, Scott and Chris. Candra, Scott's wife, and their little girl, McKenna, came too. McKenna is about 6 months older than Ellie and Braxton.
The girls had a blast playing together. Candra, accidentally broke one of Ellie's ball. This is what the girls are putting on their head.

Monday of Vacation

Ellie and Brayden

Ellie working out!

Brayden working out!

I was on vacation last week! Yeah!
On Monday, Ellie and I spent a couple of hours with Stephanie (a co-worker) and her little boy, Brayden. Brayden was born 28 days before Ellie. We all had a blast. Ellie walked away with a flat lip! For some reason the place tied balloons to a video camera that was on a tripod. Ellie ran over and pulled on the balloons. I failed to mention that Ellie LOVES balloons! The camera fell and hit her in the face. She cried for a few minutes and then was ready to play again. We were running around this one bouncy, when I realized she had a fat lip. Luckily, it didn't stay swollen very long.
We had a blast and can't wait to have another play date with Stephanie and Brayden!!
PS: more to come from my vacation week!

Sleeping Beauty

A week ago Wednesday night (or Thursday morning), at 4 am, Ellie started screaming for Christian. I turned on the video monitor, and she wasn't in her bed. I freaked! I ran in her room, and she was standing on the slats on the right side of her crib....out of her crib!
I would have typically put her back in her bed and let her cry for a few minutes. However, my brother-in-law was spending the night with us. I didn't want to wake him up, so I put her in bed with Christian and I.
Side note: It is amazing how no matter how big the bed is, Ellie will always sleep as close to you as possible. Let me say that Ellie has only slept with us like 2 or 3 times...max! She is what our doctor called as the helicopter sleeper! We have a king size bed, and I was nearly falling off the bed because she kept moving closer and closer to me.
Back to my story. So at 4 am I was trying to get Ellie to go back to sleep. I am laying there and she is moving around like crazy. Finally, she is laying still, and I am thinking okay she is asleep. Next thing I know there is a big, wet kiss on my face. Dang! She's not asleep, but how sweet was that!
Long story short, Ellie never went back to sleep until 6:25 am, and we have to leave by about 6:45am! I warned her teachers that she might by fussy that day. Ms. Josette said that day during circle time, Ellie was falling asleep. She asked Ellie if she wanted to lay down, but of course Ellie said no.
Knock on wood, Ellie hasn't climbed out of her crib again. I pray that she doesn't for 1 more year. I know it sounds ridiculous, but I know she is safe when she is in there. If I convert the crib to a toddler bed, she will be out of it in a second. I will also have to rearrange her room. She knows how to climb her changing table. I don't allow her to do it, but Christian does! Typical man! Haha!
The above pictures are of her when she finally went back to sleep!

Surfer

I just love that face!

Seriously! How stinkin cute is she? I know I am a little biased!!

This is a bathing suit that I meant to buy for her for next season. However, I got a 3T, and I don't think it will fit her next year.

Waterfall

Sorry I haven't been posting as much lately. I keep forgetting my camera at home.
A couple of weekends ago we went to Lake Keowee in South Carolina. James, one of the partners at Christian's office, has a house on the lake. We had a great time. On Saturday, most of the employees from Christian's office came up as well. We had a great time playing in the water. It was nice to finally be at a lake that was full!
Ellie has been so funny lately. She is getting more independent. One day last week, I pulled out an outfit for her to wear. She said, "No, mommy. I said, "You don't want to wear this?" "No, Hot!" So, I put her in another outfit.
This morning I was about to pull some an outfit out of the closet for her to wear. Ellie said, "pink mommy." I proceeded with, "you want to wear something pink today?" Yes! Well, okay! I pulled out of pair of shorts that were pink and brown plaid. "Do you want to wear these?" "No, pink!" I said, "more pink?" "Yes!" So she wore a pink tank top and a jean skirt that had pink flowers. I can see what my future holds with her!

Girly Girl

Ellie LOVES to wear my shoes. I have a pair of probably 2.5 to 3 inch heels. She loves to wear them. I don't care if she does. I am just worried she is going to fall and break something. Lets just hope she doesn't carry her children like this!

Uncle Grant Came to Visit

Uncle Grant came and spent the night with us tonight. Ellie has a new friend. She wanted Uncle Grant to hold her and tried to get him to give her a bath.

Ellie's Ribbon

This ribbon is extra ribbon from her birthday party invitations. I am not really sure why I kept it. Anyway, I was putting Ellie's hair up and thought it would look cute in her hair. After I put it in, it looked so cute! I asked her if I could take pictures of her hair. These are pictures of her posing. I didn't ask her to turn her head the different ways, she just did them herself! I think we might have a model on our hands! And as usual, she is over my photo shoot!

Ellie Update

I thought I would post more about Ellie and how she is! She is wonderful...growing like a weed, talking up a storm, and NEVER stops until her head hits the pillow.

Ellie loves The Backyardigans, Shrek, brushing her teeth, bubble baths, gummies (fruit chews), noo-noos (noodles), pizza, peas, going outside and long walks on the beach. Just kidding on that last one.

Ellie is a happy little girl. When she is hungry, she gets cranky. As soon as she eats, she is happy again. I dont think she has hit the terrible twos yet. When she doesn't get her way, she lets you know but its short lived for the most part.

Ellie is a hit at daycare. She recently moved up to Senior Toddlers. Before she was in Junior Toddlers. One of her teachers told us that 4 other parents would not let their child move to Senior Toddlers until Ellie moved up! We have ourselves a social butterfly on our hands.

A few cute things she has done lately:

  • We were at a friends lake house this weekend. She was walking up the dock to the house. She turned around a stuck her finger up and said, "I be right back, stay mommy. I be right back!" I couldn't help but laugh! Where did that come from?
  • I got home yesterday and picked her up to love on her. I felt her diaper and it felt full. I said, Ellie do you need a diaper change? She said, yes, stinky. Daddy turn! That's my girl!
  • Christian got home with Ellie yesterday and went to change her diaper. She proceeded to climb up her changing table with no help! Knock on wood, she hasn't tried to climb out of her crib. I have no desire to move her to a big girl bed. She is in her crib, shes not too big for it, and I know she is safe. If she goes to a big girl bed, I know we will have to clear out her room and put a gate at the door. I am in no hurry for any of that.
  • Last night we were sitting here (seems to be a pattern here.....she learned a few things yesterday) and all of a sudden Ellie started singing, Where is pinky, where is pinky? It didn't sound like that, but she had the tune. I called mom and she couldn't remember what song it was. I went to the internet and finally figured out what she was singing. She was so excited when she heard me singing it.

I hope everybody has a happy and safe 4th of July.
