Potty Training Time...

Ellie has been interested in the potty for several months now. They have been letting her use the potty at school. She has actually gone in it a couple of times....every once in a while. I hadn't really thought about trying to really potty train her because I thought she was still too young. I didnt think that she would be able to tell me when she needed to go.
Well, two nights ago Ellie said 'potty' and then ran to the bathroom. So, I went off with her to the bathroom. I couldnt believe it she actually went potty in the potty. About fifteen minutes later she wanted to go again, so off we went. She went potty 3 times that night. Last night she went 4 times. She had a dry diaper from 6:30ish till she went to bed at 8 pm. I was so excited!! Its funny because I am the one that takes her to the bathroom. Once she goes, she calls out for Christian, "daddy, daddy!" She knows all about being praised and she wants it!!
With all of that being said, I guess we will be potty training Ellie here in the next few weeks. I can't believe it is that time already. I was thinking when she was closer to two, but since she is so interested in it now...we will begin the journey!!

Surgery 1 and Surgery 2

These pictures (above) are taken last April from her first surgery.

These are from last week! Wow, has she grown! I can't believe
Ellie is 20 months old today. It is scary how fast they grow.
Cute story: Christian and I had new bedroom furniture delivered on Saturday. Prior to it being delivered, we were moving our old furniture out of the way. We took the mattresses off of the frame and then took the frame apart. Ellie looked at the disassembled frame and said "Oh, no it broke. Oh no, it broke." It was so cute. She just kept saying it over and over.

Surgery 2

Ellie had her surgery yesterday. Everything went well. They put the right tube back in and the basically changed out the left tube. Dr. Gower said that it was 3/4 of the way out, so she went on and replaced it otherwise we might have been back in the same place within a couple of weeks. She also took Ellie's adenoids out. She said they were medium in size....not really sure what that means.
Ellie did great surgery wise. She definitely acted different afterwards (from last time). She was very fussy. All of this was because of the breathing tube that was put down her throat and the IV (you can see it on her left hand in the above picture). She came out of surgery about 10 am. They wouldn't let us leave until she had had several ounces of juice. Normally, Ellie is a very, very good drinker. It took her right at an hour before she would drink. Once we got home she slept a little, but not as much as I expected. She would be happy and then very fussy. It was back and forth all day. She is complaining that her throat hurts...which we knew it would. The problem is that she won't take her pain medicine. Hopefully, she will start taking it soon. Dr. Gower said that they recovery time for adenoids is 3-5 days. I am hoping that she will be back to herself tomorrow....or at least more like herself!!

Cute Pics

Can you tell how annoyed she is with us taking this picture?

I wonder were Ellie gets her eyes from!

Ellie update: I heard back from the ENT. Ellie is scheduled to have a tube put back in the right ear and her adenoids removed. I am nervous...as usual, but I think it is for the best. She has pre-op this Friday and then surgery on Thursday the 24th. The recovery is 3-5 days with the adenoids. I talked to my cousins wife (their little girl had tubes and her adenoids out about a year ago), and she said that it is constant drainage with the adenoids being removed. She also said that her throat will be sore. Pray that Ellie has a speedy surgery and recovery.
Cute Stories of Ellie:
Last night I got home, and I could smell that Ellie had a "stink, stink." I changed Ellie's diaper while Christian started dinner. I had asked Ellie while I was changing her if she stinked, stinked. When I got done changing her diaper, she ran into Christian. She started saying, "Daddy, I stink, stink. Daddy, I stink, stink" at the same time she is saying this she is pointing at her bottom. He was cutting some meat, so he couldn't turn right around. She kept saying it until he turned and looked at her. It was so funny. Once he looked at her, she stopped and went about her business.
Another cute story: I was trying to finish getting ready this morning while Ellie played. She came over to the bathroom cabinet and grabbed the toothpaste. She knows how to open it, so I don't like for her to have it. I would have a huge mess to clean up if I did let her have it. So, I grabbed it from her and put it at the very back of the counter. She cried for half a second. She then ran out of the bathroom. I didn't think anything of it. Two seconds later, she comes walking in with her stool. She proceeded to put it right in front of the cabinet and climbed up on it to get the toothpaste. I had moved it again, so she couldn't get it! I know what she was thinking when she ran to get her stool, "Haha, mommy. I will just show you!"

Ellie Update

This is one of my favorite pictures of Ellie!

Story behind this pic: Christian was laying like this while I gave Ellie a bath. When Ellie came out, she ran over to Christian and saw that he was laying like that. She grabbed a pillow and laid down beside him. It was SOO cute!!
Ellie update: She lost her right tube sometime before Thanksgiving. When we took her to the doctor for her 18-month check up, we found out that she had an ear infection. Then about 2 weeks ago, Ellie started waking up in the middle of the night....several times. She was recently put on an Albuterol inhaler (for a cough), so we thought it might be that. One night we tried not giving her the inhaler. We ended up waking her up to give her the inhaler because she was coughing so much. We finally broke down and took Ellie to the doctor this week. She has another ear infection in the right ear. So, we might be putting another tube in her right ear. I am waiting on a call from the ENT to discuss the timeline on putting one back in.
Other than that, Ellie is doing wonderful. She is growing like a weed and talking more and more. She is picking up new words on a daily basis! It is incredible watching her learn and say new things!
