A week ago Wednesday night (or Thursday morning), at 4 am, Ellie started screaming for Christian. I turned on the video monitor, and she wasn't in her bed. I freaked! I ran in her room, and she was standing on the slats on the right side of her crib....out of her crib!
I would have typically put her back in her bed and let her cry for a few minutes. However, my brother-in-law was spending the night with us. I didn't want to wake him up, so I put her in bed with Christian and I.
Side note: It is amazing how no matter how big the bed is, Ellie will always sleep as close to you as possible. Let me say that Ellie has only slept with us like 2 or 3 times...max! She is what our doctor called as the helicopter sleeper! We have a king size bed, and I was nearly falling off the bed because she kept moving closer and closer to me.
Back to my story. So at 4 am I was trying to get Ellie to go back to sleep. I am laying there and she is moving around like crazy. Finally, she is laying still, and I am thinking okay she is asleep. Next thing I know there is a big, wet kiss on my face. Dang! She's not asleep, but how sweet was that!
Long story short, Ellie never went back to sleep until 6:25 am, and we have to leave by about 6:45am! I warned her teachers that she might by fussy that day. Ms. Josette said that day during circle time, Ellie was falling asleep. She asked Ellie if she wanted to lay down, but of course Ellie said no.
Knock on wood, Ellie hasn't climbed out of her crib again. I pray that she doesn't for 1 more year. I know it sounds ridiculous, but I know she is safe when she is in there. If I convert the crib to a toddler bed, she will be out of it in a second. I will also have to rearrange her room. She knows how to climb her changing table. I don't allow her to do it, but Christian does! Typical man! Haha!
The above pictures are of her when she finally went back to sleep!
